Definition
When talking about natural resources it is referred to as land or materials which naturally occur in the environment which grow and exist without human interference. By its word, these are resources which by nature are natural and characterized by being diverse. Natural resources play great role on the survival of humankind. It is where they rely for the food, shelter and everything they need to survive. Aside from survival, humans also use such resources to feed their personal satisfaction and in answering their wants or desire
Division
The division of natural resources differs from how they are categorically based. If it is on the basis of origin then the resources are divided into biotic and abiotic. Biotic resources can be gained from biosphere which includes forest, animals, other products or resources of land. Minerals, fuels, coal and petroleum are also included in this division or category. Abiotic resources on the other hand, are those resources that are non-living things like land, water, air, gold, and more. If it is based on the stages then it is divided into potential and actual resources. Potential resources are those that are found in region and could be used in the future. These are called potential since it is on the process of being resources. Actual resources are those reserves which human can profit it converted or use. If classified into renewability, natural resources can be classified into renewable and non-renewable resources. Renewable resources are resources that can be replenished like crops, trees and more. Non-renewable resources are those resources that takes long period of time to be replenished. Thus it includes coal, natural gas and petroleum.
Natural Resources Management
Managing natural resources takes discipline for it to work. Proper management both living and non-living resources would help in securing the future generations. Managing resources follow the concept of facilitating proper management and governance of environment not only on one portion of land but all throughout the world. There are several projects and activities that are now being done to preserve and manage wisely natural resources and make sure that there wouldn’t be abuse on resources.
Protection of Natural Resources
Conserving natural resources could be considered as one of the problems of the world nowadays. Only few natural resources were left on today’s generation, this was due to the abuse human being to such causing drastic declination on the natural production of it. Hence, the conservation biology was created. Conservation biology is the scientific study the nature and condition of Earth biodiversity. This study aims to preserve species most especially those endangered, their homes and ecosystem from being extinct. It tackles sciences, economics as well as of management of natural resources. Habitat is referred to as the home of these species and nowadays several projects have been held all over the world conserve or preserve such habitats for both wild animals and plants and prevent any extinction or reduction of numbers of species. This process of protecting the habitat of species is called habitat conservation.
